Where Should Toilets be Placed at Events?
Getting portaloo placement wrong can cause ques, bad smells & unahppy guests. Here’s a guide into how to get it right ⬇️
Distance from Main Crowds
Keep it practical
- Not too close to key areas – can be noisy and smelly
- Not too far – people won’t use them correctly
Keep portaloos & luxury toilets 25-5o metres from main activity for most events
Accessibility ♿
- Clear signage – make it visible
- Close to main walkways
- Include disable access toilets in visible locations
- Include multiple locations (as many as possible)
If people are forced to search for toilets, ques build up. If all the loos are in one place, people honey pot.
Ground Conditions
- Level ground
- Avoid mud slopes & muddy areas
- Avoid damp areas (speak to site managers for advice)
If it’s a field ensure toilets are place toilets on the highest, dryest ground available.
Spacing
- Don’t cluster porta loos into one spot
- Split into smaller blocks for bigger events
Instead of 10 portaloos in a row consider blocks of 3s & 4 portable loos.
