What the club said
After the race, Andrew from the club gave us five stars on Google. He didn’t leave a written comment, so we haven’t put words in his mouth here. The stars speak for how the day went.
Rated us five stars on Google after we supplied the toilets for the club’s canoe marathon.
The brief
A canoe marathon brings paddlers, support crews, officials and families to the riverbank for most of the day. The race was held in open riverside parkland, so there are no permanent toilets near the launch area, and everything has to be brought in.
The club needed toilets near where people gather, in place before the first crews arrived, and cleared away afterwards so the park was left as they found it.
What we arranged
- Toilets for race day. Portable toilets for paddlers, crews and supporters, delivered and set up ready for the morning.
- Riverside placement. Units on firm, level ground away from the bank, where people could find them easily.
- Collection afterwards. Everything taken away after the race, leaving the park clear.
Planning toilets for a riverside race
Paddling races, regattas and riverside runs all share the same questions. These are the ones we ask before booking anything by the water.
Ground by the river
Riverside grass can stay soft long after rain. Pick the highest, driest spot for the toilets, and tell us what the ground has been like that week.
The route in
Park gates, narrow paths and height barriers limit what can drive in. Agree access with the landowner or council first, and tell us the gate and route when you book.
When the demand comes
Most people need a toilet before their start time, so put the units near the launch and registration area. Our race and sports event page has a calculator for start, course and spectator numbers.
Spectators and families
Supporters often stay all day. If you expect a crowd on the bank, add a few extra units and at least one accessible toilet.
More sports and race work
We have arranged more than 50 portable toilets along the route of the Thames Path Ultra Challenge, toilets for two marathons in East Sussex, and repeat work for Dream Challenges at Windsor Racecourse. Rugby clubs, regattas and agility shows make up a steady part of the rest.
Along this stretch of the Thames we cover Surrey, including Esher and Elmbridge, and London.
