Toilet hire in Sussex: quick answers
The questions Sussex customers ask us most, answered straight. Checked October 2026.
How much does portaloo hire cost in Sussex?
Site portaloos start at £36 per toilet per week in East and West Sussex, serviced weekly, with a two-week minimum. Event toilets and other units are priced on your date, postcode and numbers. Fill in the instant quote form and you will see the full price before you book.
Do you cover both East and West Sussex?
Yes, the whole of Sussex: Brighton and Hove, Lewes, Newhaven, Eastbourne, Hastings and the Weald in the east, and Worthing, Crawley, Horsham, Chichester and the coast in the west.
How many portaloos do I need for an event in Sussex?
Allow one toilet per 50 guests for an event of up to four hours, or one per 35 to 40 if there is a bar or it runs longer, plus at least one accessible toilet. A 100-guest party with a bar needs three portaloos.
How many toilets does a building site in Sussex need?
Use whichever is higher: the HSE minimum of one toilet for up to 5 people and two for 6 to 25, or one portable toilet per 7 workers when serviced weekly. A 10-person site needs two, with hand washing alongside.
Do I need permission for a portable toilet in Sussex?
Not on private land such as a drive, garden or field. If it has to go on a road or pavement, check with the highways team at East Sussex County Council, West Sussex County Council or Brighton and Hove City Council first. For public events, the licensing team may ask to see your toilet plan.
Is loo hire in Sussex the same as portaloo hire?
Yes. Loo hire, portaloo hire and portable toilet hire all mean the same thing: a self-contained toilet delivered to your site or event, serviced if needed, and collected afterwards.

Event and festival toilet hire in Sussex
Sussex has one of the busiest event calendars in the south: festivals on country estates, races along the coast and over the Downs, beach and garden parties, weddings in barns and marquees, and village fetes all summer. Most of these places have no toilets that can cope with a crowd, so every unit has to be brought in.
We’ve supplied the toilets for a music festival on a country estate near Lewes, with servicing through the event, and for two marathons in East Sussex, where the units had to be in place before the first runners arrived. Read the Sussex festival case study, or plan your numbers with our festival toilet guide.

“Patrick was always available on phone – and attentive throughout the booking process – the delivery was on time, and ready to use – the servicing was done to high standard…”
Site toilet hire for Sussex building projects
We have building sites on the go across Sussex, from housing schemes and extensions to commercial jobs, with good deals when you hire several site toilets at once.
Site portaloos start at £36 per toilet per week, serviced weekly with the waste taken away, on a two-week minimum. For bigger crews, a welfare unit covers toilets, hand washing and a rest area in one. On long jobs, long-term hire keeps one simple weekly price.

Sussex delivery know-how
Coast and seafront
Sites near the beach are exposed to wind. Units need firm, level ground away from shingle and sand, and seafront roads often have loading restrictions, so tell us the exact spot when you book.
The Downs and the Weald
Farm tracks, steep lanes and narrow gateways are common at rural venues. Tell us about access and gate widths, and we’ll make sure the right vehicle turns up.
Brighton and town centres
Narrow streets and controlled parking mean delivery times matter. If a unit has to stand on the road or pavement, check with the council’s highways team first.
Busy summer weekends
Festival season, Pride weekend and summer Saturdays book up early. Get in touch as soon as you have a date.
