What the organisers said
Festivals are the hardest test for toilets. Thousands of people, a field instead of a building, and no second chance if the units arrive late or the servicing slips. This is the review the festival left on Google after the event.
“Patrick was always available on phone – and attentive throughout the booking process – the delivery was on time, and ready to use – the servicing was done to high standard…”
The brief
The festival is an independent music event held on a country estate in open countryside near Lewes. There are no permanent toilet blocks on a site like that, so every toilet the crowd uses has to be brought in, set up and kept clean for the whole event.
The organisers needed three things from us: one person to deal with from the first call to collection, toilets in place and ready before the gates opened, and servicing during the festival so the units stayed usable from the first day to the last.
What we arranged
- One point of contact. Patrick handled the booking himself and stayed on the phone through the build, which the organisers picked out in their review.
- On-time delivery. The units arrived on schedule and were ready to use when the festival opened.
- Servicing during the event. Toilets were emptied, cleaned and restocked while the festival ran.
- Collection afterwards. Everything was cleared from the estate once the festival finished.
What other festival organisers can take from it
Most festival toilet problems come from planning, not from the toilets themselves. These are the points we go through with every festival before we quote.
Get the numbers right early
Start from your expected crowd, how long people stay and whether there is a bar. A bar or a long day needs more units than the basic ratio. Our festival toilet guide has a calculator for a first estimate.
Plan servicing with the toilets
On a festival that runs over more than one day, servicing matters as much as the number of units. Agree when the service vehicle can get in, and where it can reach every block.
Think about the ground and access
Rural estates mean tracks, gateways and soft ground. Units need firm, level spots, and delivery and service vehicles need a clear route in. Our guide on where to place portable toilets covers layouts.
Don’t forget accessible units and urinals
Every public festival needs accessible toilets near the main areas, and urinal units by the bars keep the queues moving for everyone.
